Governor Green's administration is advancing initiatives across various sectors in Hawaiʻi, focusing on wildfire preparedness, early childhood education, and state financial system modernization.
As wildfire season begins, the state launched Operation Hoʻopauahi 2026 under an Emergency Proclamation. This fully funded plan enables rapid deployment of National Guard aircraft for emergency operations, aiming to suppress wildfires and protect communities. The operation, meaning "to extinguish fire," represents a coordinated defense strategy.
Hawaiʻi has also achieved national recognition for its early learning programs, meeting all 10 quality benchmarks in the National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER) 2025 State of Preschool Yearbook for the fourth consecutive year. Additionally, the Department of Accounting and General Services selected Guidehouse and Workday to modernize the state's Enterprise Financial System, moving the project into its next phase.
Other initiatives include the DCCA Hawai‘i Foodbank Challenge and the introduction of Trauma-Informed Care Certification for state employees, with the first cohort recognized in May. These efforts underscore the administration's commitment to building a stronger, more resilient foundation for Hawaiʻi.
