The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) will host a hybrid public meeting on July 23, 2026, to discuss its proposed rule implementing the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). This meeting, updated to reflect a hybrid format, follows the rule's publication in the Federal Register on July 7.
NRC staff will provide an overview of the proposed rule and related implementation activities, followed by a question-and-answer session. The meeting is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Participants can attend online via Microsoft Teams.
The NRC, an expert technical agency, is responsible for protecting public health, safety, and security, and regulating the civilian use of nuclear materials. The agency issues licenses, conducts inspections, enforces regulations, and plans for incident response. It is currently collaborating with interagency partners to implement reforms from new Executive Orders and the ADVANCE Act, aiming to streamline activities and enhance efficiency.
