Fairfax County is set to host a wide array of community events and activities from Friday, May 29, through Sunday, May 31, 2026, offering residents diverse opportunities for engagement, learning, and recreation. Highlights include a pet adoption event, a low-cost vaccine clinic, and a significant community summit focused on youth.
On Saturday, May 30, Braddock District Supervisor Rachna Sizemore Heizer will host "Braddock Bark" at Lake Accotink Park in Springfield from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. This event will feature pet adoption opportunities, food vendors, a doggy splash zone, and booths from local pet nonprofits and businesses. Earlier on Friday, May 29, Animal Services' Lorton Campus will hold a Vaccine and Microchip Clinic from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., providing low-cost pet vaccinations and microchipping on a first-come, first-served, cash-only basis.
The My Brother’s Keeper Fairfax Local Action Summit is scheduled for Saturday, May 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Luther Jackson Middle School in Falls Church. This summit aims to bring the community together to help shape programs and policies for boys and young men of color in Fairfax County.
Families can enjoy weekend-long attractions such as The Water Mine Family Swimmin' Hole at Lake Fairfax Park in Reston and Our Special Harbor at Franconia Park, both offering various water features. The Tysons Friends Quarterly Book and Media Sale will also run Friday through Sunday at Tysons-Pimmit Regional Library, with proceeds benefiting the library. Other events include nature hikes at Riverbend Park, historical tours at Hannah P. Clark/Enyedi House and Historic Huntley, and various library programs like a D&D Character Building Workshop for teens and a Family Resource Fair.
Looking ahead, Fairfax County will celebrate National Trails Day on Saturday, June 6, encouraging exploration of its over 334 miles of scenic paths. The Mount Vernon District Summer Palooza, a free family-friendly event, is also planned for June 6 at the Mount Vernon Governmental Center in Alexandria.
