The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) will host a virtual public webinar on June 11 to provide an overview of the 2025 safety performance for 17 nuclear reactors located across Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. The session, starting at 5:30 p.m., offers the public a direct opportunity to engage with NRC inspectors responsible for evaluating these facilities throughout the year.

The briefing will cover plants operated by Constellation Nuclear, PSEG, Vistra Corp., and Talen Energy, including Calvert Cliffs, Nine Mile Point, FitzPatrick, Ginna, Limerick, Peach Bottom, Salem, Hope Creek, Beaver Valley, and Susquehanna. The NRC confirmed that all 17 plants operated safely in 2025, maintaining their commitment to public health and safety.

However, Hope Creek in Hancocks Bridge, New Jersey, remains under heightened regulatory attention. This follows a low-significance safety finding involving an emergency diesel generator, which placed the plant in the agency’s Regulatory Response Column at the end of last year. The NRC plans a supplemental inspection to verify that operators have identified the root cause, evaluated broader implications, and implemented effective corrective actions.

The NRC, an expert technical agency, is tasked with protecting public health, safety, and security by regulating the civilian use of nuclear materials. Annual assessment letters for the plants, including upcoming inspection plans, and current performance information are available on the NRC website. Participants can register online or listen by phone at 1 301-576-2978, passcode 288 433 876#.
