CAIR-Minnesota is reporting that it called for a criminal investigation into a political stunt where activists allegedly dressed in "Muslim clothing," used fake accents and attempted to impersonate Minnesota voters at a primary election polling place. It said the activists, from a group now called the Citizen Justice League, filmed themselves testing Minnesota's voter-vouching system. The group reportedly identified an individual falsely as a real voter, though no illegal ballots were cast and poll workers reported the incident. CAIR-Minnesota Executive Director Jaylani Hussein said using fake Muslim identities and stereotypes for a political stunt is not a harmless prank and called for accountability and a serious investigation. He noted that impersonating a Minnesota voter is a felony.
CAIR is reporting that it called on Ambassador Huckabee to demand an end to an Israeli settler siege on a Palestinian-American's home in the West Bank. It said CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad urged Ambassador Huckabee to insist Israeli authorities protect the family and their property from illegal settlers. Awad stated that no American citizen should have to risk safety to defend their home from armed settlers backed by military forces. He called for immediate protection, restoration of water and electricity, freedom of movement and an end to the siege.
CAIR and its Florida chapter are reporting that they joined 102 rights groups in calling on Secretary Rubio to secure the release of U.S. citizen Sama Safi from Israeli detention. They said an American citizen was illegally abducted and detained by a foreign military and subjected to "abject conditions." CAIR and CAIR-Florida called on Rubio to secure Safi's immediate release and hold the Israeli government accountable.
CAIR-Texas is reporting that it commended Houston Mayor Whitmire for debunking Governor Abbott's "anti-Muslim political stunt." It said the ablution room and adjoining prayer room at Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport are open to everyone.
