The U.S. Census Bureau will release a series of economic indicators this week, including August 2026 new residential sales, preliminary U.S. imports of steel products and an advance report on durable goods.

New residential sales data for August 2026 are scheduled for release on September 24, the same day as preliminary figures on U.S. imports for consumption of steel products. On September 25, the bureau will publish the advance report on durable goods, covering manufacturers' shipments, inventories and orders for August 2026.

The bureau also launched a new data visualization exploring the auto industry, offering timely, high-frequency automotive data in interactive graphs and maps.

On Thursday, September 24, the bureau will host a webinar on using its economic data through the release frequency pyramid, a framework linking how often data are published to the level of detail they provide. Registration is available online.

Also on September 24, the bureau will release the 2026 Annual Government Organization counts, including three data tables: Government Units by State, Local Governments by Type and State, and Special District Governments by Function and State. The annual Government Organization Public Use File for state and local government units will also be released, covering independent governments, dependent school systems and public pension systems.

The Census Bureau said it serves as the nation's leading provider of quality data about its people and economy and is the federal government's largest statistical agency.
