Governor Abigail Spanberger has ordered flags across Virginia to be flown at half-staff in memory and respect of Delegate Floyd H. Miles Sr., a devoted public servant from Charles City County.

Delegate Miles Sr. served the Commonwealth for over 26 years, including roles on the Board of Supervisors and in the General Assembly. During his tenure, he championed significant improvements in agriculture, education, natural resources, and infrastructure.

Governor Spanberger praised his contributions, saying, "Floyd Miles Sr. was a lifelong, devoted public servant who dutifully served the people of Charles City County as a member of the Board of Supervisors and in our General Assembly." She added, "His more than 26 years of public service have left a lasting legacy of leadership, service, and dedication for which the Commonwealth is grateful."

The Governor's order mandates that the flags of the United States and Virginia be lowered at sunrise on Saturday, August 15, 2026, and remain at half-staff until sunset on all state and local buildings and grounds throughout the Commonwealth.
