Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jim Tressel continued their "Heart of Opportunity Tour" in central Ohio today, marking the seventh stop of the statewide initiative celebrating Ohio's recognition as CNBC's No. 1 State for Business. The tour highlights partnerships, investments, and workforce strategies driving the state's economic success.
The event was hosted by Anduril Industries in Pickaway County, a defense technology leader that recently expanded into Ohio. This expansion brought 4,000 new jobs, making it the largest job-creation project in Ohio history. Discussions centered on Ohio's strength in aviation, aerospace, and defense, emphasizing the crucial role of partnerships with state universities and community colleges.
Panelists included Zachary Mears, Senior Vice President of Strategy for Anduril Industries, Ohio State University President Ravi Bellamkonda, and Columbus State Community College President David Harrison. Governor DeWine expressed optimism, saying, "I truly believe that this is Ohio's time in history. This state has experienced significant economic growth over the last several years, and a great deal of credit goes to our local partners who have helped make this happen. It's a team effort."
Lt. Governor Tressel added, "The goal of this tour is to remind folks of the opportunities that exist in Ohio and the pathways to get there. The pendulum has swung in Ohio's favor, and we want Ohioans to take advantage of that." The tour aims to continue building on Ohio's momentum into the future by engaging with employers, educators, and community partners.
