Governor Mikie Sherrill has directed that U.S. and New Jersey flags be flown at half-staff on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, to honor the late Representative Frank Joseph Guarini, Jr., who passed away on June 20, 2026, at the age of 101. The directive was issued through Executive Order No. 20.
Representative Guarini dedicated his life to public service, serving as a decorated World War II Navy veteran, a New Jersey State Senator, and a seven-term member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Governor Sherrill said, "Frank Guarini dedicated more than a lifetime to serving New Jersey and our country with distinction in uniform, in the State Senate, in Congress, and through his extraordinary philanthropic work. His leadership helped shape our state and strengthen our nation. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by his remarkable generosity."
