Sierra Club is reporting that America's public lands are currently facing "sweeping attacks" from the Trump administration, which it says could lead to significant environmental degradation. The organization states these actions threaten National Parks, National Forests and other treasured landscapes.
The Sierra Club highlights several potential impacts, including the carving of roads into remaining wilderness areas, increased industrialization through logging, drilling and mining, which endangers wildlife and fragments habitats. It also warns of trails, campsites and backcountry experiences falling into disrepair due to limited emergency services, creating more dangerous conditions for visitors. The organization further notes increased pressure on forests, waterways, habitats and ecosystems, accelerating the climate crisis, and a reduction in places for future generations to explore.
To counter these threats, the Sierra Club is seeking to raise $65,000 by the end of the month. It said these funds are crucial to power urgent campaigns, legal advocacy, grassroots organizing and public education efforts aimed at defending public lands and holding anti-environment politicians accountable.
