George Mason University has partnered with Shenandoah University to create a streamlined admissions process granting priority status to five College of Education and Human Development undergraduate students for admission into Shenandoah's doctor of physical therapy program.

The partnership is one of several initiatives featured in the university's latest news roundup. George Mason's interdisciplinary programs are also helping the next generation of conservationists, environmentalists, and sustainability experts develop the critical skills needed to help build a climate-resilient society, the university said.

On the Honors College Day of Service, a group of first-year George Mason Honors College students helped the City of Fairfax tackle beech leaf disease as part of the community forestry effort.

Upper-level Democracy Lab members traveled to Richmond for a day of immersive education and interactions with both the governor and lieutenant governor of the commonwealth.

George Mason faculty also appeared in national and international media. Amira Roess was quoted by NPR, Charles Blahous was quoted by Scripps News, and Geoffrey Gilleaudeau was quoted by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

The university also announced the 8th annual Mason Energy Forum, hosted by the Center for Energy Science and Policy and the Center for Security Policy Studies. This year's theme is "From Sea to Space: Challenges for energy, trade, and national security." The event will be held Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Mason Square, Van Metre Hall.
