The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board is reporting that California Gov. Gavin Newsom is advocating for an "AI New Deal," which it views as a move toward an even larger entitlement state. It said the Food and Drug Administration has reversed course on Replimune’s RP1, a melanoma drug, and will now treat it as an "urgent matter."

The Editorial Board is also questioning U.S. strategy regarding NATO, noting that the Pentagon is reducing troops in Europe while Russia seeks vulnerabilities. It reported that the Atkins Securities and Exchange Commission is working to repeal a climate regulation championed by Gary Gensler, which it believes harms U.S. businesses.

Separately, the Editorial Board highlighted that University of California faculty are reconsidering the SAT, stating that student learning declined after standardized tests were dropped.

The Wall Street Journal Opinion section is reporting on Jill Biden's book tour, during which she revealed concerns that President Joe Biden's performance during his 2024 debate with Donald Trump might have been a stroke. It noted that she also maintained she observed no signs of cognitive decline.
