U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin made his inaugural visit to the southern border in Brownsville, Texas, yesterday, touring facilities and meeting with personnel. The visit underscored the administration's focus on border security measures.
During his tour, Secretary Mullin inspected the southern border wall, visited Camp Monument, and observed an autonomous surveillance tower. He also met with U.S. Coast Guard personnel and U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Rio Grande Valley Sector. He was accompanied by U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott and U.S. Border Patrol Chief Rosario “Pete” Vasquez.
Secretary Mullin said, "Thanks to these heroes and the strong leadership of President Donald J. Trump, we have the MOST SECURE border in history, 15 straight months of ZERO illegal aliens released into our nation, and HISTORICALLY low illegal crossings." His visit also included an inspection of the waterborne buoys in the Rio Grande River, with approximately 9.5 miles of the 17-mile barrier project already deployed in Brownsville. The DHS remains committed to securing the homeland and border.
