Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear joined community and nonprofit leaders in Floyd County today to celebrate the ribbon-cutting of two new homes at the New Hope Estates high-ground neighborhood, providing crucial housing for survivors of the 2022 floods. One home is immediately move-in ready, with the second expected to be completed within weeks.

These additions contribute to the broader initiative to provide safe housing in Eastern Kentucky. New Hope Estates is planned to host 34 homes, supported by a $10 million investment from Team Kentucky for property acquisition and site work. Additionally, the Wayland high-ground community in Floyd County has already completed 14 homes, funded by the Team Eastern Kentucky Flood Relief Fund.

Governor Beshear underscored the ongoing commitment, saying, "We’re continuing to make incredible progress in our mission to bring safe housing to flood survivors across Eastern Kentucky." Floyd County Judge/Executive Robbie Williams echoed this sentiment, stating, "We’re rebuilding in a way that will keep Floyd Countians safe for generations to come."

Frontier Housing constructed the recently completed homes, with interim president and CEO Chelsa Hamilton affirming their dedication to building more. Across Breathitt, Floyd, Knott, Letcher, and Perry counties, over 500 new homes are projected.
