Newsweek is reporting that a federal judge has temporarily blocked President Donald Trump's "$1.776 billion Anti-Weaponization Fund." The Justice Department created the fund to settle Trump's own lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service regarding leaked tax records. Newsweek said the fund has been criticized as a "slush fund" because it is run by a panel Trump can fire at will, lacks judicial review, and has no rule against considering some January 6 claims. Newsweek noted that Trump sued a federal agency he oversees, then settled through his own Justice Department. Despite the fund's profound flaws, Newsweek stated that the underlying principle it addresses is broadly accepted and not limited to typical left-leaning cases, indicating the category of grievances is real.
