USA TODAY is reporting that Sen. Bernie Moreno, R-Ohio, spoke publicly about the distress his daughter and granddaughter are experiencing due to domestic violence allegations against his former son-in-law, Rep. Max Miller, R-Ohio. Moreno described the situation as "brutal beyond comprehension" and reiterated his call for Miller to resign from Congress. It said Moreno addressed questions about why his public criticism was delayed, explaining his daughter requested privacy to deescalate the matter. Emily Moreno, his daughter, alleged in court documents that Miller threw hot water on her in June 2024, which she cited as a "final straw" in their marriage. Miller has denied these accusations and is scheduled to appear on CNN.

The outlet also reported on a 60-page document released by the House Ethics Committee concerning North Carolina Rep. Chuck Edwards. USA TODAY said the report details alleged inappropriate conduct by Edwards toward two young female staffers. The accounts include Edwards planning helicopter rides and strip club visits, sending numerous gifts such as 30 types of ice cream, designer purses, guns, and Broadway tickets, and performing housework and decorating Christmas trees for them. The report contains "unusually intimate, disturbing – and, in some cases, downright odd" accounts and text message exchanges.

USA TODAY is also reporting on a significant divide among Senate Republicans regarding their August recess plans. It said some senators are eager to leave Washington, while others contend that substantial legislative work remains unfinished. Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., indicated he would vote to stay in session until key issues are addressed, including the SAVE America Act, Russia sanctions, cryptocurrency legislation, the confirmation of Todd Blanche, and government funding bills. The publication noted that both the House and Senate, under Republican leadership, are openly at odds over various legislative matters.
