Governor Ned Lamont urged Connecticut residents to exercise caution due to heavy rainfall and the potential for flash flooding across the state on Monday night, July 6, and into Tuesday morning, July 7, 2026. The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for all of Connecticut, effective until Tuesday afternoon, with Flash Flood Warnings potentially to follow.
Governor Lamont's emergency management team has been actively monitoring conditions and is prepared for any emergencies. He also convened a statewide conference call with municipal leaders to coordinate response efforts.
"This is a long-duration, heavy rain event that may cause localized flooding in certain areas, and we are advising everyone to stay informed, keep your mobile devices fully charged, and use caution, especially on Monday night and going into Tuesday morning," Governor Lamont said. He noted that saturated ground from the recent Fourth of July storm could lead to more downed trees, despite ongoing debris clearing.
Residents are advised to drive with caution, stay clear of downed wires, and never attempt to drive through flooded roadways, as even shallow water can be dangerous. Utility companies have brought in additional crews from Canada to help with potential new power outages, supplementing efforts to restore power from Saturday's storm.
