Ramon Garcia has been appointed as the new Human Resources Director for the Port of Long Beach's Harbor Department, effective May 16. This division, part of the recently established Organizational Effectiveness Bureau, manages employment for the Port's 600-strong workforce.
Garcia brings over a decade of human resources expertise, having joined the Port in July 2024 as Assistant Director of Human Resources. His prior experience includes overseeing Equal Employment Opportunity operations and compliance for the City of Long Beach Department of Human Resources, as well as private sector roles in training and leadership development.
In his previous assistant director role, Garcia provided strategic leadership for talent acquisition and employee relations, managed a $9.3 million operating budget, and worked to enhance workforce planning and organizational effectiveness. He succeeds Khristina Jason, who was promoted in March to lead the Organizational Effectiveness Bureau.
