The Port of Oakland and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are set to launch a $640 million infrastructure project to modernize the Port's turning basins. Officials will formalize the project with the signing of the inaugural Design Agreement on Thursday, August 27, at 9 AM, aboard the USS Potomac. The event will host key figures including Oakland Mayor Barbara Lee, Congresswoman Lateefah Simon, Port of Oakland Executive Director Kristi McKenney, and President of the Port Board of Commissioners Stephanie Dominguez Walton.
Representing the Army Corps of Engineers will be Major General Jason Kelly, Deputy Commanding General for Civil and Emergency Operations, and Lieutenant Colonel Virginia Brickner, San Francisco District Commander. This collaborative effort underscores a commitment to enhancing the Port's capacity and environmental innovation.
