Gov. Andy Beshear has formally requested an update on the health and well-being of U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell, citing growing concerns among Kentuckians regarding the Senator's ability to serve.
The request follows reports that Sen. McConnell was hospitalized on June 14, with limited information subsequently released from his office. Governor Beshear's administration has noted an increase in public inquiries about the Senator's condition, prompting the direct outreach.
"Over the last several weeks, Kentuckians have grown increasingly concerned about the health and well-being of Sen. McConnell," said Gov. Beshear. "Allowing speculation to continue in the media is not fair to the Senator or to Kentuckians, and my hope is that this provides him the opportunity to share the information in a transparent manner, direct from the source. I wish him a safe and speedy recovery."
