Medicare Open Enrollment starts October 15, giving beneficiaries the chance to review or change their prescription drug and health coverage for the year ahead.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services said people can preview their 2027 plan options now to see if there is a better fit for their needs and budget. Medicare.gov/plan-compare is described as the official source during Open Enrollment.
Beneficiaries are encouraged to log in or create a Medicare account at Medicare.gov/account before Open Enrollment begins, so they can compare plans based on their specific prescriptions, providers and pharmacy.
CMS also noted an important change for 2027: people with Medicare drug coverage won't pay more than $2,400 in out-of-pocket costs for covered prescription drugs. The cap only applies to drugs covered by a plan, so CMS said it is important to make sure your drugs are covered when comparing plans.
Those with questions or who need help during Open Enrollment can call 1-800-MEDICARE.
The message was paid for by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and created and distributed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
