Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger has ordered flags across the Commonwealth to be flown at half-staff in memory and respect of Appomattox County Deputy Burlie W. Duvall III, who died in the line of duty. The order mandates that the flags of the United States and Virginia be lowered at sunrise on August 14, 2026, and remain at half-staff until sunset on all state and local buildings and grounds.
