The Social Security Administration will retire the lockbox service for programmatic remittances, according to an emergency message issued to technicians.

Emergency message EM-26035, "Discontinuation of Lockbox Services -- One-Time-Only Instructions," was published as part of program policy instructions updated on September 23, 2026.

The message notifies technicians of the upcoming retirement of the lockbox service for programmatic remittances and provides one-time-only instructions.
