The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is reporting on several key issues, including a condemnation of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, calls for congressional action regarding Israel, and local civil rights concerns.

CAIR-Texas condemned a post from Gov. Greg Abbott’s press office that compared Islamic ablution facilities at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and George Bush Intercontinental Airport to segregation-era "White-only bathrooms." It said Abbott's office claimed the airports "finance, maintain, advertise, and operate Muslim-only spaces" and referred these facilities to the Department of Justice. CAIR-Texas stated that these facilities are inclusive accommodations, open to all travelers, and not discriminatory. It criticized Abbott for "weaponizing the Department of Justice against Muslim Texans."

Separately, CAIR called on Congress to condemn Israel’s E1 land sales, which it said would make a Palestinian state "impossible." It urged members of Congress to end U.S. aid to Israel and support sanctions on its government.

CAIR also condemned Van Jones for what it described as "dishonest and shameful" denials of Israel’s actions against children in Gaza. CAIR National Deputy Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell said Jones has mocked images of dead Palestinian babies and falsely argued Israel did not starve Gaza's population. Mitchell called for Jones to apologize and cease attempts to cover up Israeli government actions.

In Maryland, CAIR condemned the reported harassment of Muslim women at a Montgomery County market and applauded a witness who intervened. CAIR Maryland Director Zainab Chaudry said no one should be targeted based on their dress or worship.

CAIR-Georgia, along with interfaith partners, plans a press conference on Aug. 24, 2026, in Atlanta to condemn Israel for denying entry to U.S. citizens on an interfaith trip. It said this denial violates the visa waiver program between the two countries and called on the U.S. government to act.

Finally, CAIR-New Jersey celebrated the state leading the nation in the number of Muslim elected officials. CAIR-NJ Public Affairs Director Naureen Akhter noted New Jersey has one of the highest Muslim populations per capita.
