Breaking Defense is reporting that Congress faces a ticking clock to pass a continuing resolution before the new fiscal year begins. It said lawmakers will be in a hurry after the August recess to reach an agreement to fund the government.
Breaking Defense also reported that the Pentagon rebuffed repeated requests from the Congressional Budget Office for a "Golden Dome" brief. David Mosher, head of the CBO's National Security Directorate, stressed that the watchdog office was tasked with estimating the cost of implementing President Donald J Trump's January 2025 executive order, not any Department of Defense plans.
Additionally, Breaking Defense said President Trump scaled back a military exercise with South Korea. Trump wrote in a social media post that these exercises are "not only costly [...] but send a signal that is completely inappropriate and hostile" to North Korea.
