The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced last week that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deported several illegal alien gang members convicted of serious crimes, including abduction, assault, drug trafficking, and burglary. This action is part of the Trump Administration's ongoing efforts to enhance national security.
DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin said, "Last week, the brave men and women of ICE made our country safer by deporting illegal alien gang members, including kidnappers, violent assailants, drug traffickers, and burglars." He added that the administration is working to "undo the damage caused by the Biden Administration’s reckless open-border policies" and will "never apologize for deporting illegal aliens, because that’s how we save lives."
Among those deported was Erik Alexis Valladares-Corea, an MS-13 gang member from Honduras, with convictions for abduction and illegal re-entry. He had been previously deported in May 2020 by the Trump Administration after being released by the Obama Administration in 2015. Balmore Vladimir Hernandez-Lopez, another MS-13 member from El Salvador, was deported on August 25, having been convicted of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and illegally re-entering the U.S. multiple times.
Enrique Carrasco-Polanco, a Sinaloa Cartel member from Mexico, was deported on August 29. His criminal history includes convictions for drug trafficking and illegal re-entry, having been deported three times previously. Abner Geovani Del Valle-Lemus, an 18th Street gang member from Guatemala, with convictions for battery, vehicle theft, and burglary, was also deported. Brian Damian Iglesias-Rodriguez, a Latin Kings gang member from Uruguay, with convictions for assault and burglary, was deported on August 24, marking another re-entry after previous deportations.
