A Presque Isle man, Joseph Maile, pleaded guilty today in U.S. District Court in Bangor to attempted sex trafficking of a minor, enticement of a minor, and attempted enticement of a minor.
Court records indicate that in 2024, Maile, 27, utilized the social media platform Snap to solicit minors for sexual images and offered financial compensation in exchange for sexual acts.
Maile faces a potential sentence ranging from a minimum of 10 years to a maximum of 25 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and up to a lifetime of supervised release. His sentencing will occur following the completion of a presentence investigative report.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) conducted the investigation into the case, which falls under Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation.
