The U.S. Census Bureau today released its Business Formation Statistics (BFS) for June 2026, providing up-to-date information on new business applications and formations across the United States and Puerto Rico.

This standard data product offers high-frequency insights into entrepreneurial activity. It was developed through a research collaboration with economists from the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, the University of Maryland, and the University of Notre Dame.

The monthly release includes a comprehensive dataset of 12 series, covering both business applications and formations, available for the nation, regions, and individual states. Additionally, four monthly business application series are provided specifically for Puerto Rico. The BFS data includes both seasonally and not seasonally adjusted figures to offer a complete picture of business trends.
