Congresswoman Katherine Clark led House Democrats in successfully passing a War Powers Resolution last week aimed at ending the ongoing conflict in Iran. The resolution seeks to halt what Clark described as "Trump's war," citing significant human and economic costs.
The conflict has resulted in the deaths of 18 American service members and left over 600 wounded. Beyond the human toll, the press release states that the war has contributed to increased costs for American families, impacting prices for essentials like gas and groceries. Clark asserted that President Trump had "lied repeatedly" about the war nearing its conclusion and has yet to provide a clear explanation, strategy, or exit plan.
Following the House's action, the resolution now moves to the Senate for consideration. Clark emphasized the need for the Senate to pass the measure, contrasting it with House Republicans' recent vote to allocate an additional $73 billion to the conflict. Democrats advocate for an immediate end to the war, presenting it as a "simple, commonsense solution."
