A Quincy man, Glenn Legere, has been sentenced to over nine years in federal prison for the armed robbery of a Santander Bank in Weymouth in December 2024.

U.S. District Court Judge Julia E. Kobick handed down a sentence of 110 months, followed by five years of supervised release, after Legere, 47, pleaded guilty to one count of armed bank robbery in December 2025. Legere was arrested and charged in June 2025.

On December 17, 2024, at approximately 4:52 p.m., Legere entered the Santander branch wearing a sweatshirt, baseball hat, face covering, and gloves. He brandished a black firearm, opened a black cloth bag, and demanded money from a teller, yelling words to the effect of “I need money,” “I want the money,” and “I don’t play.” He pointed the firearm directly at the teller and left with approximately $947 in stolen cash.

Subsequent review of surveillance video footage from nearby locations determined Legere drove to and from the robbery in a silver or grey Jeep Grand Cherokee registered to him. Legere has a history of similar offenses, including a 2011 armed robbery conviction and a 2010 conviction for robbing multiple banks in Massachusetts. At the time of his arrest, a firearm and some of the clothing believed to be used in the Weymouth robbery were recovered. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley, Special Agent in Charge Ted E. Docks of the FBI Boston Division, Colonel Geoffrey D. Noble of the Massachusetts State Police, and Weymouth Police Chief Richard M. Fuller.
