San Diego resident George Russell Isbell, Jr., 69, has pleaded guilty to mailing a threatening communication to a media personality located in Tampa, Florida. Isbell faces a maximum penalty of five years in federal prison for the offense, U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe announced. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
According to court documents, on or about September 18, 2025, Isbell mailed an "angry, offensive, and threatening letter" from San Diego. The letter targeted the victim, a media personality, and referenced the recent murder of conservative political activist Charlie Kirk.
The threatening message included graphic language, stating, "Maybe someone will blow your head off!!! We can hope! Planning any public engagements? Love to see your head explode and your blood stain the concrete red. What a sight!". The Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated the case, which is being prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Joseph Wheeler, III.
