The New Jersey Department of Health was denied full access during a health inspection of Delaney Hall today, leading Governor Sherrill to demand transparency and call for the facility's closure.
The Department was only permitted to inspect a limited portion of the facility. Governor Sherrill said, "refusing to provide full access raises serious questions about what ICE is trying to hide from public view." The findings from the limited inspection will be reviewed and shared.
Governor Sherrill emphasized the state's commitment to the rule of law and upholding the Constitution, stating that Delaney Hall "should be closed down." She urged ICE to "immediately de-escalate the situation" while she continues efforts to ensure the safety of New Jersey residents and humane conditions at the facility.
