Governor Kim Reynolds announced today that the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has approved her request for low-interest disaster loans for eight Iowa counties. This assistance is for residents and businesses impacted by severe storms, heavy rain, and flash flooding that occurred between July 2 and 4, 2026.
The affected counties include Boone, Dallas, Jasper, Madison, Marion, Polk, Story, and Warren. Homeowners, renters, businesses, and most nonprofit organizations whose property was damaged or destroyed are eligible to apply for these low-interest loans. Additionally, small businesses, agricultural cooperatives, and most private, nonprofit organizations can apply for working capital loans.
Applications can be submitted online at lending.sba.gov or in person at designated assistance centers, with details available at disasterrecovery.iowa.gov/SBA. The deadline for physical damage applications is September 21, 2026, and for economic injury, it is April 23, 2027.
