The U.S. Census Bureau has established the Census Bureau Higher Education Consortium (CBHEC) to foster greater collaboration with academic institutions and cultivate the next generation of statistical innovators. This initiative aims to integrate higher education directly into the mission of producing high-quality national statistics.

The CBHEC was formed following discussions that identified key challenges, including isolated environments limiting the use of Census Bureau statistical products, inconsistent levels of statistical literacy, and insufficient integration of these tools in university classrooms. These issues hinder students' preparation for data-intensive careers.

By addressing these challenges, the consortium seeks to enhance students' readiness for the complexities of data usage in an evolving workforce. Dominica Zhu-Pierre-Louis, MBA, and Carla Medalia, Ph.D., authored the announcement regarding this transformative collaboration.
