A formal Design Agreement signing ceremony will take place on Thursday, August 27, at 9 AM aboard the USS Potomac, located at 530 Water St., Oakland, CA. This event marks the official commencement of the project.
Key officials attending the ceremony include Oakland Mayor Barbara Lee, Congresswoman Lateefah Simon of California’s 12th Congressional District, Port of Oakland Executive Director Kristi McKenney, and Port Board President Stephanie Dominguez Walton. Representing the Army Corps of Engineers will be Major General Jason Kelly, Deputy Commanding General for Civil and Emergency Operations, and Lieutenant Colonel Virginia Brickner, San Francisco District Commander.
