Finland is set to host the first European maintenance and service center for the Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) Common Fire Control System in Tampere. This development follows an agreement signed on June 25 by the Finnish Defence Forces, Finnish technology company Insta, and Lockheed Martin.
The new center, to be located at Insta’s offices, is a key component of the indirect industrial participation tied to Finland’s F-35 Programme. This initiative aims to deepen defense materiel cooperation between Finland and the United States.
Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen said, "It is a testament to the strong expertise of our defence industry that Finland is the first European country to host an MLRS Common Fire Control System maintenance and service centre. The indirect industrial participation linked to the F-35 Programme will create new jobs and further increase the high technology expertise of the Finnish defence industry." Insta is also a strategic partner for maintaining the F-35 fighters' avionics.
