The Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) and the Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) are inviting the public to a virtual town hall to discuss significant upcoming changes to Medicaid eligibility for noncitizens. These changes, stemming from H.R.1, are scheduled to take effect on October 1, 2026.
The virtual session will provide a comprehensive overview of the new regulations, explaining what these updates mean for current and prospective Medicaid members. Attendees will also learn where to access additional information and resources regarding these important policy shifts.
The town hall is scheduled for Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. It will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams. Medicaid members, their families, caregivers, and advocates are strongly encouraged to attend. Questions can be submitted in advance by emailing dmasinfo@dmas.virginia.gov.
This is an important opportunity for those affected to understand how these changes may impact their healthcare coverage and future eligibility.
