Abastos Wholesale, a specialized distributor and supply chain partner, is set to expand its Louisville operation with a $10.3 million investment, creating 20 new jobs in Kentucky, Gov. Andy Beshear announced today.

This expansion will double the company's current operational space in Louisville, incorporating significant building renovations to add a large warehouse and new administrative and technological offices. The 20 new positions will include logistics roles for inventory control, fulfillment, packaging, and shipping, as well as technology positions to maintain and expand logistical software.

"Abastos Wholesale is making a $10.3 million investment in our home – Kentucky! We were founded in Louisville, and our roots are here," said Alejandro Ruiz Gonzalez, president of Abastos. Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg also highlighted the company's growth, noting it represents Abastos doubling its physical footprint and investing over $10 million in the community.

Abastos sources authentic products, including specialty foods, beverages, produce, and restaurant supplies, directly from Mexico, Latin America, or specialized importers for bulk sale to restaurants, grocery stores, and food service providers. The company also supports Kentucky's agriculture industry by sourcing locally grown produce and products. To encourage this investment and job growth, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) preliminarily approved a 10-year incentive agreement, potentially providing up to $500,000 in tax incentives based on the company's investment and job creation targets, including an average hourly wage of $31.50 with benefits.
