A Honduran national, Diogenes Galvez, 21, of Atlantic City, New Jersey, has been sentenced to 175 months in prison for possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute. U.S. Attorney Robert Frazer announced the sentencing, which also includes three years of supervised release.
Galvez previously pleaded guilty on May 19 before U.S. District Chief Judge Renée Marie Bumb in Camden federal court. The charges stemmed from a search warrant executed on September 27, 2023, at Galvez’s home by Atlantic City Police Department officers and agents with the FBI Safe Streets Task Force.
During the search, officers discovered methamphetamine, crack cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana, and other controlled substances. They also found a loaded semiautomatic handgun with a defaced serial number and nearly $5,000 in cash. Galvez had prior convictions for multiple firearms offenses before this incident.
U.S. Attorney Frazer credited the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under Special Agent in Charge Stefanie Roddy, and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, led by Prosecutor William Reynolds, for their roles in the investigation. This effort was part of the U.S. Attorney and Atlantic County Violent Crimes Initiative, a collaborative law enforcement program targeting violent offenders in Atlantic County. Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph McFarlane represented the government.
