Fairfax County Government announced a diverse lineup of summer entertainment, recreational activities, and cultural events scheduled for Friday, July 10, through Sunday, July 12, 2026, offering numerous options for residents and visitors. The weekend features live music, outdoor adventures, educational programs, and community gatherings across various county locations.
The Summer Entertainment Series will host performances throughout the weekend, including Cougar Beatrice, The Gayle Harrod Band, "La Musica - A World of Encanto with JChris," a Peruvian Cultural Heritage Night, and Dan and Claudia Zanes. These shows will take place at various parks and public spaces; attendees are encouraged to bring picnics and seating.
Weekend-long activities include access to The Water Mine Family Swimmin' Hole and Our Special Harbor spray grounds. Additionally, COPA Tysons will host free, high-energy soccer watch parties at PenFed Plaza and The Boro Tysons, complete with big screens, music, and giveaways.
Friday's events range from making Colorful Candle Holders at Martha Washington Library and an Australian-themed "Didgeridoo Down Under" show, to an inclusive music program and classical music by Hayfield High School students. Campfire Fridays at Lake Fairfax Park offers nature exploration and s'mores for a fee.
Saturday provides a wide array of activities: Family Fishing, Sketching Along the Lakeside, and "The Sun - Our Neighborhood Star" at various parks. Historical insights will be provided at Sully Historic Site with "The Declaration of Independence in 1776 and Today." Nature programs like "Nature's Hidden Heroes" and "Super Snakes" are also available. An Open Hire Event will be held in Alexandria, while Sherwood Regional Library hosts a Plant Swap and cultural events include a Chinese Culture Club and various dance performances.
Sunday's schedule features "The U.S. Army Band Presents: Stories, Suites and Sonatas" at Sherwood Regional Library, a family-friendly "Hidden Pond Highlights" session, and "Science Meets History - Spies" at Colvin Run Mill. Chantilly Regional Library will host a T-Shirt Swap. Upcoming events include a "Christmas in July" Family Skate and Dance Night on July 18, and an "Introduction to Astronomy" course on July 31.
