The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (CAH) is set to launch "Rip! Tear! Collage as Critique," an exhibition opening June 11 that explores themes of societal division and reassembly through the work of 23 DC-based artists. Concurrently, CAH is actively seeking public input on its draft Strategic Plan and has welcomed Moises Del'Rosario as its new Community Development Specialist.
The "Rip! Tear! Collage as Critique" exhibition at CAH's Eye Street Gallery will showcase diverse collage methods, including assemblage, quilting, and video, challenging traditional genre boundaries. Moises Del'Rosario, a Ward 1 native, brings six years of experience from Mayor Bowser’s cabinet, focusing on community engagement and interagency coordination, to his new role.
Community members are invited to provide feedback on CAH's Strategic Plan through public sessions on June 9, 10, and 13, or via written comments from July 21-31. CAH is also calling for GoGo bands to perform in its Summer Concert Series by June 5 and will host a "Black Music Infrastructure for the Nation's Capital" program on June 16 to discuss sustainability and growth for Black music communities.
Additional opportunities include surveys on AI use in arts, grants for public art projects, and a call for grant reviewers. The public can also attend the next Full Commission meeting online on June 15, with public comment requests due by June 11. The District's arts scene is vibrant with events like the District of Pride Showcase on June 17, 2026, a Caribbean Cultural Concert on June 26, and various workshops and exhibitions from grantees and partners throughout the summer.
