Governor Abigail Spanberger announced today that Rural King, a national farm and home supplies retailer, will invest $40 million to establish a new distribution facility in Henry County, Virginia, creating 150 new jobs.
The investment involves acquiring an existing 500,000 sq. ft. warehouse at the Patriot Centre Industrial Park, previously vacated by VF Corporation in 2025. This move aligns with the Spanberger Administration's strategy to utilize existing business-ready sites and boost investment across the Commonwealth. Governor Spanberger said, “Rural King’s decision to locate its new distribution center in Henry County underscores Virginia’s position as a premier logistics hub on the East Coast.”
The project is expected to bring significant economic opportunities to the region. Rural King Vice President of Human Resources Amy Shafer said, “We’re excited to expand our distribution network with this new facility in Henry County and deepen our commitment to serving customers across the region.” She added that the investment reflects the company's growth and dedication to creating meaningful career opportunities.
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership collaborated with Henry County to secure the project. Governor Spanberger approved a $750,000 grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund, complemented by support from the Virginia Jobs Investment Program for employee training and the federal New Markets Tax Credits Program. Virginia Port Authority Executive Director and CEO Sarah J. McCoy highlighted the region’s strategic advantages and strong workforce, noting the Port of Virginia's role in efficient goods movement and strengthening supply chains.
