Breaking Defense is reporting that the Space Force has established a $981 million pool to acquire training capabilities, addressing a significant lack of simulators for Guardians. Gen. Greg Gagnon, head of Space Force Combat Forces Command, said several key mission areas face this deficit.
It also said an Air Force office has taken over the M-code project, which aims to provide jam- and spoof-proof GPS receivers for military technology. Tests for these receivers on ships and planes are expected to conclude by 2027.
Separately, Breaking Defense is reporting that SpaceX has secured a $1.6 billion task order to launch Space Force "sensing and targeting" satellites. This marks the first award since the Space Force increased its NSSL Phase 3 Lane 1 contract vehicle ceiling by $11.4 billion.
The outlet also noted that the Senate has advanced toward confirming key Pentagon officials, with lawmakers voting en bloc to set up further votes for a new Pentagon comptroller and other influential positions. Breaking Defense highlighted Raytheon's work in developing next-generation interceptors for ballistic missile defense, utilizing decades of experience in simulating cosmic conditions.
