Washington, DC residents are invited to two free community events this Saturday, August 29, 2026: the Culture Quest Kids Fest: STEAM & Creativity Lab and the DC Unity Soccer Cup 2026. These events aim to foster community engagement, celebrate diversity, and provide educational and recreational opportunities for all ages.
The Culture Quest Kids Fest, hosted by the Mayor’s Office on African American Affairs (MOAAA) in partnership with the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) and the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (CAH), will take place from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Deanwood Recreation Center. This festival offers interactive activity stations for kids and students to explore STEAM, creativity, reading, and culture through hands-on experiences, alongside youth activities and live entertainment.
Earlier in the day, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the DC Unity Soccer Cup 2026 will kick off at 401 Oklahoma Ave NE. This tournament brings together DC Government offices, community partners, and residents aged 18 and older for a 7v7 soccer competition. The event celebrates the District’s diversity, builds connections, and promotes community inclusion, with free attendance and play.
Both events are free to attend, offering diverse ways for the community to connect and celebrate.
