U.S. Senators Dan Sullivan and Lisa Murkowski, Congressman Nick Begich, and Governor Mike Dunleavy (all R-Alaska) celebrated the White House announcement of a $54 billion investment by South Korea in the Alaska LNG project.

Alaska LNG is among the first group of projects identified for strategic investment under the $350 billion investment package included in the 2025 U.S.-Korea trade deal.

Governor Dunleavy has also approved Alaska's first 20 Scholarship Granting Organizations under the new federal Education Freedom Tax Credit Program, the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development announced. The state received applications from organizations in Alaska and across the country, and each approved organization has been verified as tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and has met Alaska's application requirements.

Acting Attorney General Cori Mills joined a coalition of 23 states in an amicus brief, led by the State of Montana, challenging the constitutionality of Maine's 72-hour waiting period for firearms purchases.

"The Constitution acknowledges the rights of citizens to firearms, and it is incredibly clear that nothing shall stop the free exercise of those rights," said Acting Alaska Attorney General Cori Mills. "And yet, states like Maine have normalized making citizens wait to exercise the rights guaranteed to them by the Constitution."

Alaska's Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development was awarded funding through the U.S. Small Business Administration's State Trade Expansion Program for federal fiscal years 2025 and 2026, providing resources to help Alaska small businesses enter and expand in international markets.

Spruce Root and the department also announced a $2.5 million collaborative financing package supporting the expansion and modernization of Alaska Timber and Truss, a Petersburg-based mill. The investment is expected to create 10 new jobs, preserve five existing positions and strengthen the region's capacity to manufacture Alaska wood products.
