A California state prison inmate and a Las Vegas woman have been charged with conspiracy to extort money and stalking a victim in Washington state, U.S. Attorney Eric Grant announced. D’Andre Davis, 39, formerly of Stockton, and Nicole Nowak, 31, of Las Vegas, were named in a two-count federal indictment, with Davis also facing an additional stalking charge.
Court documents reveal that Davis, while incarcerated, initiated an online relationship with the victim in July 2021 via Instagram and Facebook. The relationship turned coercive when Davis began aggressively demanding money, utilizing contraband cellphones and an inmate messaging service. In May 2024, Nowak allegedly joined Davis in threatening to disseminate compromising images of the victim to their business associates, clients, family, and friends unless payments continued. The victim ultimately sent over $35,000 before contacting the FBI.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Office of Internal Affairs conducted the investigation. Nowak was ordered detained on June 16, 2026, and Davis is currently serving a sentence at Kern Valley State Prison. Both defendants are scheduled to appear before a federal magistrate judge in Fresno. If convicted, they face a maximum of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each charge, though sentencing will consider federal guidelines. The charges are allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent.
