Victory Medical Center Pharmacy has issued a recall for certain lots of its Compounded Glutathione 200 mg/mL Multi-Dose Vials after internal testing revealed elevated bacterial endotoxin levels. This recall is critical as injectable products with high endotoxin levels can lead to severe medical events, including fevers, hypotension, inflammatory reactions, anaphylactic shock, and potentially death.
The pharmacy has already received reports of adverse events from consumers, which include fever, chills, severe headache, nausea, vomiting, tachycardia, changes in blood pressure, body aches, and various injection site reactions. The affected compounded glutathione was distributed to patients in Texas, Florida, and New York.
Patients currently using the recalled product are advised to immediately stop use, quarantine any remaining vials, and contact Victory Medical Center Pharmacy at (512) 279-0985 to arrange for retrieval and a full refund. It is also recommended that patients experiencing any symptoms potentially related to the product contact their prescribing physician without delay.
