House Democrats have successfully passed a War Powers Resolution aimed at ending what they describe as President Trump’s war in Iran, now urging the Senate to follow suit. The resolution passed yesterday, marking a significant move by Congress to assert its authority over military engagements.
According to Congresswoman Katherine Clark, Democratic Whip, the conflict has lasted "nearly 100 days," leading to increased costs for families, including a $1.50 per gallon rise in gas prices. She also highlighted the loss of 13 servicemembers and hundreds injured, stating that the administration has not provided a clear explanation, strategy, or exit plan.
Clark criticized the lack of progress on preventing Iran from accessing nuclear weapons, asserting that "Trump has not accomplished a single thing to ensure Iran doesn’t have access to a nuclear weapon." She concluded by emphasizing that Democrats are advocating for a "simple, commonsense solution: end the war now."
