Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport (OAK) is celebrating the return of Frontier Airlines with new daily service to Las Vegas (LAS), enhancing travel options for one of OAK's most popular destinations. An inaugural gate celebration and ribbon-cutting event is scheduled for Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Terminal 1 post-security.

The event will feature prominent speakers including U.S. Representative Lateefah Simon, Oakland Mayor Barbara Lee, Port of Oakland Board President Stephanie Dominguez Walton, Port Executive Director Kristi McKenney, and Frontier Airlines VP of Public & Consumer Affairs Tyri Squyres. Passengers on the inaugural flight will receive free branded giveaways and treats.

Frontier Airlines last served OAK in 2023, and its return signifies increased connectivity for the East Bay region. The new service will operate 11 times weekly, providing frequent access to Las Vegas. OAK, operated by the Port of Oakland, serves as the primary airport for the greater East Bay, contributing significantly to the region's economy.
