A federal jury in Sacramento, California, on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, convicted Ruby Celly Uribe, 37, of unlawfully possessing a machine gun and an unregistered short-barreled rifle, U.S. Attorney Eric Grant announced. This conviction arose from an investigation into Uribe's unauthorized disclosure of sensitive operational information.

Uribe, assigned to the logistics shop at the California National Guard Headquarters and a member of the Counterdrug Task Force (CDTF), leaked details about upcoming drug raids to an individual involved in drug dealing. Text messages revealed she shared information including dates, locations, and the number of military vehicles and aircraft involved in operations.

A federal search of Uribe’s residence uncovered a short-barreled rifle modified to fire in full-automatic mode, making it a machine gun. This firearm was also a privately made "ghost gun" with no serial number. Further investigation of her cellphone showed she was trafficking other non-serialized, short-barreled machine guns, including one sold to a coworker in July 2022.

During trial preparation, the FBI learned of another illegal firearm Uribe sold in August 2022, which was safely recovered and also identified as a machine gun and short-barreled rifle. Uribe faces a maximum statutory penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine when sentenced by U.S. District Judge Dena Coggins on September 11, 2026. This case is part of Operation Take Back America.
